World class boxer proves a knockout

A superstar boxer from Watford remains unbeaten after winning his latest heavyweight bout at the O2 arena in London. Anthony Joshua knocked out his opponent, American heavyweight Kevin Johnson, in just the second round. It was the first time Johnson had been knocked out in his career. Johnson was supposed to be an immoveable object, but a minute into the second session on May 30 his backside was halfway through the ropes and his head was rescued by the referee. Johnson had already been down twice in the first round, and on the second occasion was left blinking, panting and barely able to walk back to his corner. Joshua is clearly a special talent. How special is yet to be determined, but it looks likely that the 25-year-old’s destination will soon be a world title, just as Olympic gold in 2012 came only five years after he started in the sport. The plan is for that title shot to take place in 12 months’ time, according to his promoter Eddie Hearn, who said that he could beat Tyson Fury, Dereck Chisora and David Price now, let alone in 12 months time.
