An Amersham church is set to be converted into a community hub after being purchased by a local charity.

Chesham-based Restore Hope, which has spent 21 years operating out of Latimer Park, is expanding its reach into Amersham.

The charity, which supports local children, young people, and families, has purchased St John’s Methodist Church on Woodside Road to develop a new community hub to serve the needs of the community.

Restore Hope states that more than 1,000 children are living in poverty in Amersham and Chesham, and hopes that the hub will to “bring hope across our local community”.

The charity is calling on the local residents to get involved in designing a vision for the hub that will best support the whole community. A public consultation will take place on Saturday, March 23 from 10am to 2pm at Woodside Road, HP6 6AN, with the charity sharing architect drawings and programming ideas.

Restore Hope CEO, Nate Sence, says: “I think it is true for all people that life has become increasingly complicated these last few years. Restore Hope Amersham is going to be a place filled with opportunities for people to gain the skills and experiences they need to tackle their challenges. We are looking forward to continuing the work we’ve become known for over the past two decades whilst also partnering with other organisations to deliver excellent support. Restore Hope Amersham will be buzzing with activity, where people will interact, share experiences and encourage one another.”

The charity predict the church will reopen as a hub in September 2025.
