A tree has fallen and damaged Leverstock Green Tennis Club in Hemel Hempstead over the weekend and assessors will now examine the damage to the club.
The heavy winds on Sunday afternoon (May 10) caused the accident to happen and club members were present this morning (May 11) in an attempted clean up.
The tennis club is currently closed due to the government’s restrictions that was put in place on March 23.
Mark Tate, joint chairman of the tennis club, said: “First and foremost we were shocked to have seen the damage but I think it shows the spirit and togetherness of the club that members, whilst social distancing, were there the next morning attempting to clean everything up.
“We were hoping to re-open again soon, but with the latest announcements we’re still a bit confused as to what we can do, so we’re still closed for now and awaiting further guidance from the LTA.
