Staff at Haydon School in Northwood say they are incredibly proud of their students after A-level results were released today (Thursday).
In total, 144 students in the school’s sixth form were bidding for university places and 39 of these students attained places at Russell Group universities. Among these one student, with one A* and three A grades, is off to study medicine at Oxford, another with two A* grades and one A grade will be studying veterinary medicine at Cambridge. Nottingham University will be receiving a student with three A* grades to study medicine, and Southampton University will take another student with three A* grades and one A grade.
This year Southampton University and Nottingham University were the favourites for high achieving students followed by King’s College London, Sheffield University and UCL, among others.
A school spokesman said staff were proud of all their students achievements.
He commented: “As a school we value the progress of all and were very proud of the effort our staff and students put in to ensure that all students progressed at A-level within their subject areas and also as individuals through the schools extensive extracurricular program, which included a large Duke of Edinburgh program, extensive trips and visits programs and a large range of clubs and sporting opportunities for all year groups.”
