An inspirational woman from Pinner has been nominated for an award for her selfless work to improve the community.
Julie Waller, who is chair of The Pinner Association (TPA), has been shortlisted for a Harrow’s Heroes Award for “tirelessly working through the pandemic and beyond to improve the community for everyone in Pinner”.
She will find out if she has won the Bringing People Together category at the awards dinner on September 22.
Speaking to PinnerNews, Julie said: “I was surprised to be nominated for Harrow’s Heroes awards as I was just being me
“As part of being chair of TPA, I feel that part of my role is to be the figurehead and get their name out there.
“Consequently I talk to a lot of people; a bit like a politician should do but without the politics. I try and treat everyone how I would like to be treated.”
Ruth Boff, also from TPA, added: ”All her colleagues in TPA are pleased that Julie has received this recognition of her hard work for everyone in Pinner.
“Julie has a larger than life personality and can relate to people from all sections of the Pinner community.
“She is a dynamic person who motives people
who never previously thought of volunteering for the community to come forward and participate for the benefit of all.”
