Watford celebrates the 72nd birthday of the NHS by lighting up the town hall in blue.
The NHS is celebrating another year of operation today (July 5), as the UK needs it more than ever.
Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor wrote on Facebook: “Our town hall has been lit up in blue to mark the 72nd birthday of the NHS and to honour the memory of all of those in our town who have lost their lives to this awful virus.
“The sacrifice of our NHS staff at our hospital has been remarkable over the last few months.”
Applause was planned for 5pm this evening to celebrate all the NHS and care workers who have worked tirelessly to save lives during the pandemic.
The service was originally established on July 5, 1948.
