Two young brothers won several awards at this year’s Bovingdon Gardeners Autumn Show.
The show was held in the Memorial Hall on Saturday, September 14. Despite the poor weather, 27 exhibiters provided 223 entries.
Six-year-old Alfred Stanton and his little brother, four-year-old Arthur, entered 14 exhibits in total.
There is no children’s section in the show, so the boys took their chances against the many adult exhibiters.
Alfred won first place for the tallest weed, as well as three second places and two third places.
Arthur won first place for his cucumber and was second or third in three other categories.
Meanwhile, Mike Leon gained an amazing 19 first places, 11 second places and four third places. He retained the Ernest Wright Cup, having gained the most points in the vegetable and fruit sections.
