GREAT WIN: Northwood beat fourth place Harlow 1-2

Published on: 30th November 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Northwood F.C

Two first-half goals secured Northwood a fantastic 1-2 win away from home to fourth place Harlow Town this afternoon.

Having lost 1-6 to Hertford Town last weekend, The Woods were hoping to find the form they were in as they previously won three of their last three before their game against Hertford.

It was a great start to the game with both sides having a number of chances in the opening 20 minutes.

As Harlow began to control the majority of the possession and chances, Northwood struck after a pinpoint strike from Eric Lopes.

After finding some space outside of the box, the striker curled the ball neatly into the top corner to make it one nil.

With little time to gather themselves, the Woods made it two in two after Ethan Flanagan found himself unmarked in the box and headed home from the corner. 0-2.

The visitors were in full motion after their two goals and nearly scored a third four minutes later but a good save from the keeper kept it two nil.

Northwood’s clinical play in the last quarter of the half saw them go into the break in front.

A second half substitution by Harlow made the difference on the 48th minute as the substitute crossed the ball to Oyebola who finished well with his head. 1-2.

Despite the pressure from the home side, neither team had any clear chances after Harlow’s goal.

As the game neared the end, Woods’ keeper Ringer made some great saves to keep his side ahead.

It was all Harlow in the last ten minutes of the game with Northwood doing everything to stop their opponents from scoring.

The Woods held on and grabbed a fantastic win against fourth place Harlow Town. A much-needed lift for Jamie Leacock’s men who haven’t had much to smile about in their most recent results.

Northwood next play away at Bedfont Sports on Saturday, December 7.
