Watford Borough Council (WBC) has been shortlisted for an award for all it is doing to improve access to services for those living with dementia in the town.
The Local Government Chronicle award celebrates excellence in Local Government and Watford has been successfully shortlisted for excellence in diversity and inclusion for its partnership work on making Watford Dementia friendly.
Meriden ward councillor Jenny Pattinson said: “The town is already working with the Alzheimer’s Society to ensure our town is a place where those affected by dementia feel understood, respected and supported. The council works alongside the chamber of commerce, care providers, local businesses and experts by experience including those living with dementia and their carers.
“The next step in widening the scope of the initial project is to ask people living in the town how they would like to see Watford become more dementia friendly, so the council is asking everyone within the town to complete a short survey to help shape our action plan going forward.”
The Survey can be accessed at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WBCDementiaFriendly
