Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) has announced that several roads across Abbots Langley will be repaired over the coming months.
Abbots Langley county councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE has shared that HCC will resurface the footway on one side of Tibbs Hill Road and cut back the vegetation along the path. This will be carried out from July 17 to 30.
Cllr Giles-Medhurst also reported that major road repairs will take place across the College Road junction and roundabout, Langley Lane, and the Shirley Road mini roundabout.
He said: “After what seems an age, HCC has finally signed off a £180,000 scheme [to complete a full resurfacing in these areas], which is great news.”
There will be a temporary road closure in the school holidays from August 17 to 22, from 9.30am to 3pm, but the works will be undertaken in phases using traffic light controls to ensure through access remains.
An investigation into the ongoing ponding problem after rainfall on South Way has also been announced.
Cllr Giles-Medhurst pressed HCC to act after reporting that two drains in the roadside appeared to be blocked. An initial survey was then undertaken, which found an old surface water system was responsible for the drainage, and that no drainage was found at the flooding point.
HCC subsequently launched an investigation and cleansing to determine the system design, its condition and any follow-on works required. This has now been fast-tracked and will be held between July 7 and 10.
