‘GREAT HONOUR’: New chairman of Abbots Langley Royal British Legion group ‘honoured’ to take on role

The new chairman of Abbots Langley Royal British Legion (RBL) says it is “great honour” to be appointed.

Paul Brooks has replaced outgoing chairman Paul Kirkpatrick, with Phil West appointed vice chairman.

The new chairman is no stranger to supporting the RBL, having been chosen to help place the poppies at the Tower of London for the 100th Remembrance art installation in 2014.

He also led the Abbots Langley memorial service in 2017 for those who fell at the First World War battle of Passchendaele.

Paul told Abbotsnews: “I never for one moment thought I’d have the great honour of being elected chairman of this branch.

“I look forward to serving those who have served us and being part of the RBL, a charity which still does so much for servicemen and women.”

Abbots Langley RBL are organising numerous events this year, including Remembrance Day events and celebrations for VE Day and VJ Day.

The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at the Abbots Langley Club on Trowley Rise, with new members always welcome.
