GO GOLD: Kings Langley chef takes to the screen in hit cooking show

A talented chef from Kings Langley has been battling it out on a new ITV cooking show, taking his skills from his home kitchen to the big screen.

Ian Golding, known as Gold, is currently starring on hit cooking show Next Level Chef, which sees competitors produce dishes in three kitchens across a 50-foot tower.

Gold has swapped the comfort of his home kitchen to put his cooking to the test in front of judges, Gordon Ramsay, Paul Ainsworth and Nyesha Arrington.

Speaking to KingsNews, Gold said he signed himself up for the show due to his love for cooking which he says derives from his love for eating.

He said: “I am not a professional cook, I am a home cook. Cooking is a creative outlook for me, it’s how I relax after work.

“It’s really been a dream come true, the reason I went on a show like this was to get someone who knew what they were doing to try my food.

“When Gordon tried it, he said he couldn’t believe it had been cooked by a home cook.”

Gold added that it was a privilege to work alongside Gordon Ramsay, a chef he has admired for years.

He said: “Gordon has been such a massive part of food culture in this country for such a long time. The opportunity to be in a room with him couldn’t be missed and it didn’t disappoint.”

During filming for an episode of the show, Gold paid a visit to the village and spent some time in The Langley Butcher, who helped him prepare for the show with some butcher lessons.

On Instagram, he wrote: “How lucky we are where I live to have a local butchers, and The Langley Butchers is one of the best.

“The shop was the de facto heart of the community during lockdown and they helped the whole of the village get through those difficult times. My family will always be grateful for that.”

Gold continued to praise the Kings Langley community for their support and says he is still getting used to being recognised in the street.
