The former leader of Dacorum Borough Council, councillor Andrew Williams, has been named in the King’s Birthday Honours List 2024.
Cllr Williams was leader of Dacorum Borough Council for 24 years and has been a borough councillor for 37 years.
Speaking to HEMELnews, cllr Williams said: “Being Hemel born and bred, having led the council in your hometown, seeing projects that you have worked on come to fruition, doing things for your local community, it’s an ongoing sense of wanting to look after the town!”
His hard work for the community has not gone unnoticed. Cllr Williams received a letter in the post a couple months ago, saying that he was included in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours List and had been nominated for an MBE.
He said: “It’s a great honour, to go and get a medal from a member of the royal family in recognition of my work in Dacorum. It will be an exciting day out!
“I would like to thank all the people I have worked with over the years.”
