A tennis club in Maple Cross is hosting a free open day and fundraising week at the end of June to help raise funds for a temporary building that will benefit the whole community and especially disabled members of the club.
On Saturday, June 19, Get Set 4 Tennis club on Denham Way are hosting a free afternoon of tennis for children aged five up to adults to give the community a chance to try out tennis with all equipment supplied to encourage people to get active again after lockdown.
The club is then hosting a full week of fundraising from June 28 to raise money for a temporary building next to the courts which will hugely benefit disabled members of the club.
The week will include various activities including after school tournaments, a 24-hour tennis marathon and a fate with a bouncy castle on Saturday.
Lisa Wildman, Director and Club Manager at Get Set 4 Tennis said: “We are trying to get the temporary building in before the winter. The longer-term plan is to work closely with the council to renovate the pavilion into a clubhouse in the next 18-months for the whole community to use.”
The club recently won two Herts LTA Awards as a disability provider and education provider.
Lisa added: “We would like to say a huge thank you to our fantastic team of coaches and staff, to our committee, our schools and all the families that have supported us this year. We couldn’t have done it without you all.”
