GET CREATIVE: Young artists across Three Rivers asked to create something fit for a Queen

Published on: 1st May 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Children and young people across Three Rivers are being asked to create artwork on the theme of magical trees for the future – as part of a special competition to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Young artists will have the chance to see their work featured in a special jubilee exhibition at the Artistsmeet gallery in Rickmansworth throughout June. In addition, a family ticket to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter will be awarded to one lucky exhibitor.

The competition has been inspired by more than 700 trees which are being planted across the district as part of an initiative created to mark the jubilee.

The Queen’s Green Canopy will see new trees planted, as well as ancient woodlands and forests protected, across the UK. During the project trees will be planted by Three Rivers District Council in a variety of locations.

Elaine Johnson, Community Arts Development Officer for Three Rivers District Council, said: “I am really looking forward to seeing how the young artists interpret the brief and produce something that is not just creative, but carries a message that’s important to them. I’m sure we’re going to be spoilt for choice when we’re selecting work for the exhibition.”

Children and young people aged 2-18 and living in Three Rivers are eligible to enter. The deadline for the initial online submission is Tuesday, May 17 at 12noon and information can be found at threeriversleisure.co.uk/magical-trees-for-the-future

Exhbition partner Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden will be involved in the artwork selection process and also donated the competition prize.
