Hertfordshire County Council has organised a number of walks across Hertfordshire, led by volunteers who are trained to Ramblers UK standard.
In Radlett, there is a Grade 3 walk at 10.30am every Friday at the Green on Church Lane (opposite St John the Baptist Church).
Grade 3 walks take an hour to complete and are about three miles long with moderate hills.
All walks are free with no booking required – just turn up 10 to 15 mins before your first walk to complete a new form.
The Heath Walks were popular between April and December 2022, with 17,000 attendances.
David, who has been leading Health Walks for around 18 months, said: “I’m out in the fresh air, it motivates me to get out of bed when it’s a bit drizzly. When you get here, and you meet everybody again, it’s great fun. I like being out and meeting people – exactly the same motivation I suspect as the other walkers, I just do it with a group of people following along behind me.”
“The walkers are a lovely group of people and whether you’re doing the long walks or the short walks, everyone is doing it for a different motivation and it’s just great being out and helping people.”
