The owner of a hardware store in Hemel Hempstead has made a generous donation to a local care home, after collecting charity donations throughout 2021.
John Smyley, the owner of John & Bzzz hardware, donated £350 to Walsingham Supported Living, in Bennetts End, so that staff and residents could enjoy a well-deserved party at the end of 2021.
Walsingham Supported Living is a charity that helps support people with learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries and complex needs.
Claire Bulpit, Support Worker at Walsingham Bennetts End told HEMELNews: “John really is a pillar in the community. He saved 50 pence from every key he cut this year and donated £350 to our care home. We are all so grateful and shocked.”
The donation went towards a Christmas party and a new shed for the charity care home.
Claire added: “John is a well-liked man who will help anybody who needs it. We are a small care home, funds can be tight and for someone to donate has made the residents really happy.”
Hemel Roofing also donated £200 to Walsingham Support Centre which was gratefully received.
