HOUSING HORRORS: Northwood resident accuses housing association of disregard for neighbours

A Northwood resident has hit out at a local housing association, accusing them of having “complete disregard for their residents and neighbours”.

Rajesh Shah lives in Tanworth Close, with his house being next door to one owned by Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH). Since February, he’s been embroiled in a row with them over them allegedly neglecting to maintain their property, leading to damage to his own home.

Speaking to Northwood & Ruislip News, Mr Shah said: “Overgrown ivy from the house has now caused damage to my patio, the gate to the property (which also allows access to my own) has not been fixed, meaning anyone can come in, and the residents keep throwing rubbish over the fence, including used nappies.

“I’ve been speaking to them since February, and despite more than 30 phone calls, all I’ve had back was one email, which was quickly redacted. It’s a sure way of breaking somebody down.

“It’s a complete disregard for their residents and neighbours.”

Mr Shah has also stated that the situation in MTVH’s own properties is even worse, with furniture such as bathtubs being abandoned in their gardens.

When contacted for comment, a spokesperson for MTVH said: “We have not maintained the neighbouring property to Mr Shah to a high enough standard and are taking action, including ivy removal and cutting back overhanging trees.

“Our team has also inspected the area for abandoned items outside MTVH properties and we are currently contacting residents to request that these are removed with immediate effect.

“We are in contact with Mr Shah and will continue to liaise with him until this matter is resolved.”
