A Bushey resident’s garden has been home to a family of rats over lockdown and they have had enough.
The elderly couple who live on Oundle Avenue have put up with the rats since the beginning of lockdown.
The resident said she often claps when she enters the garden to check if any are around.
She said: “I’m very angry and upset. We are at the age of 85 and 90 and we should not be frightened to go into our own garden.”
They have tried to contact Hertsmere Borough Council to have the rats removed but with COVID-19 restrictions in place the council have not sent out an office to resolve the problem.
She said: “I have phoned a lot of people and they can’t understand why an officer would be frightened about coming through the garage.”
Hertsmere Borough Council said the pest control officer is providing outdoor visits and information can be found at hertsmere.gov.uk/Environment-Refuse-and-Recycling/Environmental-Health/Pest-Control/Pest-Control.aspx
