The second edition of a concert held to raise money for a local children’s charity has proved to be another resounding success.
Organised by musician Talia Dussek and held in her garden in Hemel Hempstead, the Gig in the Garden raised a total of £2,002 for Charlie’s Gift, a charity that provides funding to disadvantaged children across the Three Counties.
The event, which took place on Saturday, September 2, saw a house band consisting of Talia and her friends Joe Hutchings, Olly Dyer, Joe Reed-Hook, Evan Hancock and Holly Carter perform several hits to a packed crowd.
They were joined by several other acts, including musical duo Joseph Harding and Beth Lewin, a reunion of the 2017 edition of Hemel Hempstead School’s funk band, medley group Rhys Lightning, rock band Steely and the Bandits, and several other surprise special guests.
Speaking to Hemel News, Talia said: “It’s amazing to raise a summable amount for a charity that is very close to my heart, and a local charity, so hopefully one that people can be touched by.
“But also, it’s any excuse to get people together. Seeing my friends, most of whom who have moved away for university, it’s been really nice to get everyone together to play music or to dance. Everyone gets involved in their own way!”
