A Hemel youth football club scores a winner thanks to donation

Hemel Hempstead Town Youth, an FA Chartered Standard Football Club for boys and girls ages seven to 18, has received a £2,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead.

Run by a group of local volunteers, the football club aims to provide a safe and fun environment for boys and girls to play football.

Members of the Amazon team in Hemel Hempstead visited the football club to check out their “Third Generation” facility at Hemel Hempstead School. This is an artificial pitch that can be used all year round – marked out for football, but also suitable for other sports. The team also watched a game of under 8s and under 9s. The donation will be used to purchase new football kit and equipment.

Shauli Ziv, Site Leader at Amazon in Hemel Hempstead, said Amazon were thrilled to support their local youth football club.

She said: “It is our pleasure to support the local youth football club and it was great for the team to join them at one of their games to see them in action. We are thrilled to lend a helping hand to our local community and to encourage young people to play football.”

Gerry Mannion, Funding Officer, from Hemel Hempstead Town Youth Football Club, added: “On behalf of the football club, our players and their families, we would like to extend a huge thank you to Shauli and the team at Amazon in Hemel Hempstead.

“Our football club depends on donations from local businesses to keep our team playing, so we greatly appreciate the support from the Amazon team for its generosity.”
