Bushey Heath Primary School students in Year 6 have filmed a documentary about Sergeant Beharry VC, a soldier who has been awarded the mighty Victoria Cross for his bravery.
Within the documentary, called ‘War Hero’, they interviewed the sergeant and he described the two vicious attacks he was under and the heroic deeds that led him to receiving the special medal.
The premier of the film took place on March 16 and Ellie Tan, one of the students who directed the documentary, said: “We are extremely proud of our achievements as we planned, wrote, filmed, directed and edited the entire documentary ourselves.
“Not only did we create the documentary, but we also produced a short film called ‘The Lightning Strike’, which uses a variety of special effects all filmed in our brand-new Digital Hub.”
The film was premiered at the school in front of special guest Sergeant Beharry VC himself, who was wearing that all-important Victoria Cross.
Sergeant Beharry is the first recipient of the Victoria Cross since the posthumous award to Lieutenant Colonel H. Jones and Sergeant Ian John McKay for service in the Falklands War in 1982.
