Kings Langley school received funding to create a “much needed” 3G football pitch and football boot bank.
Councillor Ron Tindall decided to give a grant of £1000 to King’s Langley School for those who have incorrect or cannot afford the right boots to play football.
Each year, Hertfordshire’s 78 councillors are given an amount of money to spend on projects that support Hertfordshire being a county of opportunity for all; where people thrive, our places prosper, and our planet is protected.
Since COVID, the budget has increased from £10,000 to £15,000 to combat the financial struggles some may have. These projects centre around the county council’s ethos’s, such as protecting the environment.
Cllr Roberts said: “Kings Langley School is doing everything right, working with local schools and the local football club to give everyone the best chance of a much-needed 3G football pitch”.
The Chancellor has also awarded a grant of £400 to Herts Inclusive Theatre, a heater who strives to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people with difficulties.
The grant of £400 is to fund a one-year project to provide weekly theatre and creative arts workshops in Hemel Hempstead. The weekly workshops will be for children and young people with learning disabilities There is a lack of affordable, accessible, and inclusive activities for these children and young people – particularly over weekends – resulting in social isolation and poor mental wellbeing.
The worships use many theatrical ways to help the children, such as using the arts to build confidence and develop skills in a fun way.
