‘FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE’: Pinner Synagogue members meet with MP over growing antisemitism

Published on: 28th January 2026   |   By: Ellie Rose   |   Category: Uncategorized

On Friday, December 12, a meeting in Pinner highlighted reassurance and concern for the Jewish community amid growing division.

David Simmonds, MP for Northwood, Pinner and Ruislip, met with the executive and newly appointed Rabbi Jason Kleiman of Pinner Synagogue. They discussed the community’s well-being given rising tensions.

The MP stated he was reassured the community felt supported by police but noted anxieties remain. Antisemitism is on the rise, with recent events bringing this reality into sharp focus.

The attack in Bondi and violence targeting Chanukah celebrations were cited as tragic reminders of how hatred can escalate into terror.

The MP emphasised “the need for meaningful steps to bring about fundamental change”. He explained this requires collaboration across faith communities and a shared commitment to challenge ideologies “that threaten peace and fuel hatred and violence”.

He looks forward to working with faith leaders in the new year and shared strengthening community cohesion locally is a priority.
