Ten-year-old kart racing sensation Ethan Lloyd has begun the 2026 season with a series of successful performances.
Ethan, who is a student at Christ Church Chorleywood C of E School, has recently moved up to a more powerful kart class. He has gone from strength to strength, securing podium finishes in his last two major outings at Whilton Mill and Kimbolton Kart tracks, against experienced competitors aged up to 13.
Dave Richardson, race team manager for Richardson Chassis Engineering (RCE) said: “Ethan has adapted beyond expectation.”
Ethan excelled in his January race, crossing the finish line nearly five seconds ahead of the second-place racer.
Ethan said: “I’m enjoying it already, we’ve had good races and I’ve already had three podiums in inters. I think I can win races this year even against the older, more experienced drivers, plus I’m smoother now to better look after my tyres.
“I’m excited to do the British Kart Championship if we can afford it and I’d love to do some races in other parts of Europe.”
Ethan is supported on his journey by his mum, brother Leo, and grandparents Martin and Maria, who tune in to all his races which are broadcast live on YouTube.
His grandparents messaged their congratulations during an event: “Just seen you on the big screen, you’re famous! What a great start, fabulous drive. Well done Ethan.”
The young racer has big plans for the rest of the year, having already entered the Kart Championship, which runs on circuits nationwide and hopes to enter the British Kart Championship.
