FUN DAY: Watford, Bushey and Rickmansworth families in crisis come together for huge Easter Party

Published on: 16th April 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Families from Watford, Bushey and Rickmansworth supported by Home-Start Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere were delighted in the return of the local charity’s annual Easter Party.

85 children ranging from zero to 15 years old, 55 adults, 20 volunteers and seven Home-Start staff arrived at Hunton Park for the exciting event. They enjoyed Easter egg trails around the park’s grounds, a balloon-filled children’s disco, craft activities and a visit from the charity’s bear mascot.

Home-Start supports hundreds of families in Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere each year who are dealing with mental and physical health concerns, risk of domestic abuse, and behavioural issues.

Emma Power, CEO, said: “The joy of those two hours of fun for the families is worth more than anything. We are so grateful to Berkeley Homes for their excellent volunteers at the event who got fully involved with the dancing and craft-making with children, and for paying for the transport for families who otherwise would not have been able to get there.

“We also want to give a huge thanks to Asvina for generously supplying Easter eggs for all the families, Atria for their Christmas fundraising which paid for the party and food, and to Hunton Park for their great venue rates.”

Volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help to families under stress, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown.

The charity is in need of new volunteers to offer a couple hours each week to provide support and friendship to families within their own homes.

Their next volunteer training course starts in September 2022. Find out more about Home-Start and its home-visit volunteering opportunities here.
