FUN ACTIVITIES: Year 6 leavers celebrate their achievements with socially distant events

Year 6 leavers at Chalfont St Peter Academy (CSPA) celebrated the end of the year by enjoying socially distant events organised by their head.

Mrs Alburg, head of Year 6, said the school was determined to continue celebrating the hard work of children leaving the academy despite having to make some changes to the events due to the pandemic.

Some of the events organised included a ‘Bubbled Sports Day’ and the ‘Year 6 Challenge Day’, where the children were tasked with a range of fun activities.

On the last day for each bubble a socially distant Leavers’ Assembly was organised, which  was a chance to acknowledge every child.

Mrs Alburg said: “All activities were carefully planned. Staff and children were well prepared. The children remained in their bubbles for all events.

“The children have been incredibly sensible and have shown great maturity and understanding about social distancing as well as important hand and respiratory hygiene.

“The feedback from the children, staff and parents has been extremely positive! They have all appreciated the efforts the school has gone to give the children fond memories of CSPA. They have enjoyed their friendships and a chance to celebrate together as best we could.

“At the final assemblies, I told them how proud we are of them and the way they have focussed on the positives in a year of some disappointments. They have missed out on a lot, but they all recognise in true CSPA spirit the positives and good things that have come out of this situation.”
