As Abbots Langley Boxer Shannon Courtenay prepares for her behind-closed-doors fight later this month, her opponent is pulling no metaphorical punches.
Courtenay will take on the three-time kickboxing World Champion Rachel Ball over eight rounds on Week 3 of Matchroom Fight Camp in Brentwood, Essex on Friday, August 14, and her opponent is claiming that fans are going to have “the shock of their lives”.
Ball, who switched from kickboxing to professional boxing in 2017, has admitted that she’s very much viewed as the underdog, with Courtenay’s professional record still spotless at 5-0.
Ball told Matchroom Boxing: “I can’t wait and I think everyone is going to enjoy it. It’s going to be a brilliant fight.
“People say keep it long and I’m sure I will, but if it comes down to it I don’t mind having a good tear up. I’d love that. That’s not a problem. How will she cope with someone who throws back at her? How will she cope with the pressure?”
The Babyface Assassin doesn’t sound phased by the chatter though.
She told Matchroom: “It’s a tough fight but I’m excited and confident. I’m going to make a statement, showcase my skills and beat Rachel in style.”
