Last month saw heavy rainfalls across the UK, with residents of Chorleywood having to deal with traffic jams, closed roads and river floods.
From the end of September, moving into October, Chorleywood residents were left concerned and frustrated after heavy rainfall meant roads were flooded, and traffic jams ensued. Hertfordshire County Council has now revealed that it had received 260 reports of flooding across the county.
On September 23, a statement released by the council stated that the A404 between Chorleywood and Rickmansworth has been closed, along with two others across the county, for the “safety of road users”.
Residents of Chorleywood have been sharing pictures of the flooded roads and major traffic jams.
Councillor Phil Bibby, executive member for highways at HCC said: “Our teams on the ground have responded brilliantly to the challenges this weekend’s wet weather has thrown at us. They have been working round the clock responding to calls to help keep Hertfordshire moving.
“I’d like to thank residents for promptly reporting issues to us over the past few days and for their ongoing patience as we continue to respond. This is a timely opportunity for us to remind them of the risks of weather like this and the precautionary steps they can take to protect their own property and stay safe and well as they move around the county.”
