FROM POST TO PARADE: Paperboy chosen for special role on Remembrance Day

Published on: 30th November 2023   |   By: Sophia Sheera   |   Category: Uncategorized

Lewis Cameron, RickyNews’ very own paperboy, was chosen to bear the British Legion Standard on Remembrance Sunday.

Lewis, 16, has been doing karate with sensei Steve Johnson since he was five. Steve was asked to bear the standard but thought he’d be away from Rickmansworth for Remembrance Sunday, so he encouraged Lewis to carry it instead.

In the end, Steve was able to attend the parade, so teacher and student carried the standard together from St Peter’s Church to The Reach Free School.

When Lewis isn’t busy delivering Rickynews through residents’ front doors, he is often found at the Rickmansworth Detachment’s Army Cadet base or at the Three Valleys Karate Club at The Reach Free School.

He is about to begin an apprenticeship at a Land Rovers Specialist Garage.
