NEW FACILITY: Watford Croquet Club celebrate opening of new pavilion after 24 years

Published on: 28th July 2021   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

Members and friends of Watford (Cassiobury) Croquet Club celebrated the grand opening of the new pavilion last week, after more than 24 years of waiting for an upgrade from the former shed to a fully functioning modern pavilion.

Janet Lewis, Chairman said: “We have been trying to get a new pavilion for 24 years, it’s nice to have these new facilities for members to enjoy. Before this, when we had visitors they had to bring their own flasks and there were no toilets or anything even when people had travelled from afar. We are pleased the pavilion is finally here and we can start to enjoy it.”

On July 21, Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor officially opened the pavilion at a special celebration with refreshments and a balthazar of champagne. Watford Borough Council supported the croquet club to achieve this new facility.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “Watford Cassiobury Croquet Club is a brilliant and friendly club, it’s great to see the new pavilion here. I know it’s going to be well used. The council has invested in this new facility to support this welcoming and popular group.”
