Bushey House Beaumont will be hosting the festival opening event with a garden party on Friday, June 30, at Bushey House Beaumont (£3 charge).

On Saturday, July 1, attendees will celebrate the festival’s 40th anniversary with musical entertainment in Bushey Rose Garden.

This is a free event open to all and features Christine Bennett, a local professional singer singing oratorio, opera arias, art songs, early music and church songs.

Also performing are In Good Company with a musical theatre showcase, featuring a local musical theatre company led by professional West End performer Ashleigh Fleming plus the Marginalia Quartet, talented jazz musicians who wowed the crowed at the festival’s recent Easter Hop.

The final opening event is a concert by Watford Philharmonic at Bushey Grange on the Saturday evening featuring Leonard Bernstein Chichester Psalms, Howard Goodall Eternal Light, Michael Cayton and  Missa Brevis. Tickets cost £20 and are available from www.watfordphilharmonic.co.uk

The finale is in King George Recreation Ground on July 9 from 1pm. There will be three stages, food and drink trucks, community stalls, funfair and children’s activities. The headline acts for this year are the Kopy Katz on the main stage and Jukebox on the marquee stage.

Full details will be in the programme which will be distributed to local homes in June.
