A Pinner man is “honoured” after recently being appointed as a patron to an international children’s heart charity.

Nayan Patel PHF, a risk management specialist with over 35 years of experience in international banking, has been appointed as a patron to charity, Healing Little Hearts.

Healing Little Hearts (“HLH”) is a UK Registered Charity that sends volunteer teams of doctors and nurses to some of the poorest and lower-income countries of the world to perform free life-saving surgeries on babies, children and teenagers suffering from congenital heart disease.

To date HLH has operated upon over one thousand eight hundred children (1800) in 11 countries in three continents of the world.

This has been achieved over 140 International Cardiac camps working with 35 Hospitals.

Nayan joins HLH’s existing Patrons working to raise the awareness of the voluntary service that HLH offers as well as to highlight the massive problem of over a million children dying every year from untreated congenital heart disease in the developing world.

Commenting on joining HLH, Nayan said: “I am honoured to be a Patron this UK based international children’s charity whose volunteer doctors and nurses dedicate their time and effort in raising awareness and perform free life-saving surgeries on babies, children and teens suffering with congenital heart disease in some of the poorest countries of the world where disadvantaged and children from poor background simply do not have access to essential health care service”.

HLH’s founder Dr Sanjiv Nichani, is delighted with Nayan’s appointment.

Nayan currently sits on the advisory board of a number of NGOs, charities, social impact enterprises and academic institutions including the Rotary India Literacy Mission, the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development at Somerville College, University of Oxford, Hillingdon Brain Tumour Support Group UK, Mpower Minds India and Save Missing Girls India.

He is also a Trustee of Lepra UK and has served on the board of Council for Education in the Commonwealth and EDV Global Foundation as well as being a Patron of Medical Aid Films UK, Healing Little Hearts UK and an Ambassador for the TUTU Foundation UK.
