Two music societies in Chorleywood came together for their third fundraising performance this month.
Chorleywood Music Society and Orchestra (CMSO) and Chorleywood Choral Society united at St Andrew’s Church on April 15. The programme consisted of Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 as performed by the orchestra, and Faure’s Requiem as performed by the choir with an orchestral accompaniment. The accompaniment included Tiana Oberoi, who was a finalist in this year’s Rickmansworth Young Musician Competition, and former St Clements Danes School pupil, baritone soloist Max Catalano.
The two previous collaborative concerts raised more than £3,000 for charities Keech Hospice Care and Chorleywood Aid for Ukraine. This year, they chose to support the Red Cross Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal, with musicians and choir members all making a contribution.
Chairman of CMSO Andrew McFarlane said: “The concert was a huge success and raised more than £1,000 for the Red Cross Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal. We had a capacity audience at St Andrew’s, Chorleywood, and received very positive feedback from audience members about the orchestra, choir and soloists.”
