A Leavesden man has been sentenced and fined after pleading guilty to assault by beating and threatening to destroy property.
According to court documents, Michael Watson, 38, assaulted a woman and threatened police officers that he would burn down a flat belonging to her in Abbots Langley on July 26.
Watson was sentenced to a two-year community order, including a six-month alcohol treatment requirement, 26 days on the Building Better Choices program and up to 10 rehabilitation activity days.
He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 in costs. The sentencing took place on August 26, a month after the incident.
Last year, Watson appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court where he also pleaded guilty to a separate offence related to public order.
He admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words causing a man harassment, alarm or distress.
Watson was then sentenced to a one-year community order including an alcohol abstinence requirement and a curfew.
