David Simmonds CBE, MP for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, has revealed the results of his recent survey on local crime.
Speaking on his website, he said: “I published the survey with the aim of learning more about the most pressing concerns of residents.
“I was pleased to see the survey generated a large number of responses, as this is useful in providing me with a wide scope of experiences, concerns and priorities.”
The survey found that 62 per cent of those polled were either ‘unsatisfied’ or ‘very unsatisfied’ with the visibility of local policing, though the survey did emphasise that since 2010, there has been a 50 per cent reduction in overall crime in the area.
However, at the same time, residents generally felt safe on residential roads, high streets, public transport, and in parks and green spaces.
More than two-thirds of residents also stated that they would prefer to see more traffic patrols as a way to ensure road safety, as opposed to cameras and fixed penalty notices.
In terms of the types of crime that prompted the most concern from respondents, vehicle crime, burglaries and anti-social behaviour ranked the highest.
