A Hertfordshire Police investigation is underway after reports of alleged fraud at children and young people’s inpatient mental health unit in Radlett.
The Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Trust’s 16-bed impatient unit at Forest House in Radlett cares for pupils with severe mental health and emotional difficulties.
The mental health unit was previously issued with a warning and rated ‘inadequate’ following an unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission on March 30, with concerns for patient safety.
Now, allegations have come to light about the unit, after trust staff voiced concerns about safeguarding at the unit, and alleged reports of assault, sexual assault and fraud taking place at Forest House.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust said: “We take any allegations of inappropriate behaviour or breaches of our policies seriously. We are continuing to work with the police to support their investigation.”
A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We are currently investigating an allegation that a person fraudulently gained work at a care facility in Radlett in February. The investigation is on-going however no arrests have been made at this time.
“We have also received a report of inappropriate touching. This report has been reviewed by specialist officers within our Safeguarding Command who have found there is insufficient evidence to proceed with the matter at this time.”
