Bill’s St Albans has been transformed. We were invited to the launch party to sample a selection of the new dishes and cocktails.
It was a great atmosphere and the ambience of the restaurant still offers the same welcoming home from home feel with fresh eclectic British dishes.
The service was fantastic and the serving staff were friendly. It was also good to see the Mayor of the City and District of St Albans, cllr Mohammad Iqbal Zia enjoying himself.
The new specially designed menu will offer an expanded weekend brunch menu featuring new dishes such as the indulgent Steak and Oxford Blue Cheese Sandwich and the Sweet Potato Hash for a vegetarian option.
The expert food team have developed and tailored an all-day menu to feature dishes that are exclusive to St Albans. The Sharing Supper will be available from 5pm-9pm – perfect for families and groups.
Sharing dishes include Garlic and Rosemary Roasted Chicken, Macaroni Cheese and Bill’s Lamb and Beef Meatballs in a Tomato and Basil Sauce and will be brought to the table on platters with delicious sides.
The all-day menu also features new dishes such as Bill’s Steak and Ale Rarebit Pie for a twist on a classic and an Ancient Grain Bowl for a healthier option. A revamped kid’s menu is bursting with tasty treats.
Evenings will see Bill’s transform into a must-visit for drinks and dinner. Not forgetting its former life as a pub, the restaurant also features a seated bar area with the bar menu offering a selection of delicious cocktails and nibbles where you can enjoy a classic Campfire Espresso Martini, or an English Country Garden for a quirky alternative to a G&T.
To complement the drinks, a bar snacks menu will be served. Try sampling Duck Puffs or Beetroot and Goats Cheese Crispy Rice Balls whilst sipping a cocktail.
Bill Collison, founder of Bill’s, which started as a small café in Lewes, East Sussex, said: “St Albans is a historic market town which, as a former greengrocer, is very special to me. We look forward to welcoming back our local fans and tempting in some new faces.
“It’s evolution, not revolution. We have built on the solid foundation by adding more WOW factors across a range of guest touchpoints from crockery to menu options and uniform to furniture. It is all the best bits of Bill’s in a gorgeous setting with some brilliant new food to enjoy for any time of day.”
St Albans is one of three specially selected Bill’s restaurants to trial the new concept alongside Covent Garden and Westfield in London. Go try it out.
