A local family held a 10th anniversary football tournament in memory of their dad to raise vital funds for charity.
Dave Drury suffered a fatal heart attack in 2014. A decade later, Dave’s family hosted a six-a-side football tournament to honour his memory and raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Dave’s Day took place on Saturday, June 29, with an excellent show of athleticism, before a celebration at Parkfields and Headstone Cricket Club where everyone enjoyed a celebratory pint.
Dave’s son, Jack, posted on Facebook after the celebration: “I have to say I have been overwhelmed with the love and support we received over the weekend. We set ourselves a goal of £1,000 to try and raise some money for BHF and have absolutely smashed that, raising £1,790!
“I want to thank everyone who came to either the football or the evening celebrations to celebrate the life of my dad and everyone who couldn’t attend but still donated to the cause. Without all your love and donations, we would not have been able to put on such a fantastic day that everybody enjoyed.
“Thank you all dearly from the bottom of our hearts. That was for you, dad!”
