A husband and wife from Mill End will take on a charity skydive this month in memory of their late daughter.
Anita and Steve Quarrington Patel will brave the challenge on Thursday, October 23, in the hopes that their daring feat will raise much-needed funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
Their daughter, Sienna, sadly passed away at just five years old on December 21, 2022, after contracting a rare strain of strep A. She was transferred to GOSH from Watford General Hospital and received treatment in the paediatric intensive care unit.
Talking to Ricky News, Anita said: “The care Sienna was given at GOSH was phenomenal and our family, friends and we as parents were supported every minute of the day.”
The family have previously organised various fundraising events to support GOSH, including a charity football match and family fun day, but this will be their most daring yet.
Asked how she feels about taking on the skydive, Anita said: “My husband isn’t a fan of heights, which just proves he’s determined to do this in Sienna’s memory. I am super excited, although I think the nerves will come out on the day!
“All our friends and family were shocked when we told them what we were going to do. Many of them are trying to arrange to have a day off to come and see us do the skydive.”
