A 15-year-old boy was left with serious injuries after being assaulted during a football match at school.
The incident took place at the Reach Free School in Mill End, Rickmansworth, allegedly during a fight related to a lunchtime game. The boy was taken to hospital shortly afterwards.
Despite police describing the injuries the boy received as serious, the school later confirmed that the boy was treated at the scene by staff and is now back in school, having recovered.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “Police are investigating after a 15-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted during a football match at a school in Rickmansworth on Friday, 6 May. The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for The Reach Free School said: “During lunchtime on Friday, May 6, 2022, a pupil required medical treatment following a lunchtime football game. School staff were on duty and immediately issued first aid to the pupil, who we are pleased to confirm is back in school.”
It is unknown which hospital the boy was taken to.
