FOODBANK 400: Amersham residents urged to donate government rebate money to foodbank

Amersham residents are being encouraged to help those most in need amidst the current cost-of-living crisis.

Councillor Mark Roberts, Mayor of Amersham, has launched a Foodbank 400 appeal on behalf of his chosen charity for 2022/23, Chiltern Foodbank.

All UK households are due to receive a £400 rebate on their electricity bills, with reductions due over six months from October 2022 to March 2023.

Mayor Roberts said: “The cost-of-living crisis is hitting us all and many are struggling with difficult decisions about how to pay their food and energy bills.

“The government is giving every household £400 rebate on their electricity bills. That is welcome, but some people may feel that they have the resources to see them through and they’d rather divert the money to help those who will really struggle.

“If that is you, I’d like to ask you to consider giving some or all of your rebate to the Chiltern Foodbank so they can help people who are in crisis.”
