Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) in Northwood has presented a fundraising team with an award after they successfully raised an impressive £15,000 for the centre.
In September over 1,000 residents came together to run the Moor Park Run for MVCC, with the Northwood College for Girls Team (Team NWC) raising £15,000.
This incredible total amounts to just over a quarter of the £61,000 raised from the event, making them the single group who raised the most.
In celebration of this, the team was presented with the ‘Best Fundraising Team’ accolade in October.
Mrs Rebecca Brown, headteacher at NWC, said it was great to see the hard work put in by the team pay off through the incredible donation to MVCC.
She said: “I am so proud and grateful to be a part of our unique community at Northwood. We share the same ambitions as our parents do when it comes to creating the best futures for our students, and in working so closely together over the years, we have evolved into a community of people who value spending quality time together.
“Team NWC absolutely excel at raising money for vital causes, because we are all equally dedicated to improving the lives of others and have a lot of fun together whilst doing so!”
Louise Dyg Pederson, a mother-of-three with two daughters at NWC, was the fastest female overall for the 10K run, with an impressive time of 44 minutes.
Mrs Brown also thanked parent Arun who rallied the group together.
She said: “I am particularly grateful to our Year 2 parent, Arun, who led our Moor Park campaign. Arun spent so much time organising training sessions and generating donations; and I know first-hand how much work is involved, as I am delighted to have completed my first ever 10-kilometre run at the event.”
Whoop whoop. Well done Arun and team
