Bushey Chabad flew the UK’s first flying Menorah to the cheer of the hundreds of local families who attended the spectacle.

The Fire & Ice Chanukah Spectacular 2021 marked the 8th and final night of the Jewish festival of Chanukah, taking place on Sunday, December 5 in the Bushey Rose Garden.

It featured the lighting of a giant, 2.5 metre tall ice sculptured Menorah, a dazzling live fire show performance, a life size Chanukah dreidel mascot, and the highlight of the event – the UK’s first flying Menorah.

Rabbi Yosef Sharfstein, of Bushey Chabad, said: “Chanukah is all about the power of light, the power of goodness, kindness, and holiness. Tonight, there was lots of light and happiness – the spirit was incredible.”

The Menorah drone was created and piloted by KD Drones and custom made for Bushey Chabad.

Debbie Bernard, who attended with her two children, added: “This was an absolutely amazing Chanukah show, it was truly spectacular.

“The kids had the time of their lives, thank you for bringing the community together in such a fantastic way.”

Chanukah is one of the most celebrated festivals on the Jewish calendar and is traditionally celebrated by the lighting of a Menorah candelabra, eating foods fried in oil, and family and community get togethers.

The event was organised by Bushey Chabad in conjunction with Friends of the Bushey Rose Garden, and was part sponsored by the Hertfordshire County Council, as organised by local county councillors Laurence Brass and Seamus Quilty.
