A Croxley teen will take to the ring to fight for a female World Boxing Council (WBC) world title, as a prestigious fighting championship returns to Watford.

Ellie Harber, 17, will fight in the ROAR Fighting Championships at PRYZM nightclub on Saturday, June 17.

ROAR first took place at Watford Colosseum in 2016 and has until recently been hosted in Bushey and Harrow. The show has already made more than 20 world-class champions, such as current WBC and ROAR Heavyweight World Champion Lyndon Knowles.

Ellie, of the Knowlesy Academy, has won several accolades including the WBC European Super Featherweight Muay Thai title and a silver medal in the WBC World Youth Games.

She will compete for the WBC world title against Swedish fighter Zahra Al-Mougrabi.

Ellie said: “This is a huge fight for me. Zahra is a top fighter. My fight camp is going well and I am feeling strong. My coach, Lyndon Knowles, and I are excited for the fight. I can’t wait to get in the ring and win that green and gold belt.”

The championship will be hosted by husband-and-wife promoters, Katie and Christian Knowles.

Katie said: “We are honoured to host such an elite show. When ROAR began in 2016, we were looking to put on a good fight show close to our gym in Edgware; however, with every show it gets bigger and bigger. It is great to be able to make world champions. The UK has a lot of elite athletes, and we strive to ensure they can show their skills in front of their home crowd.”

Ellie already has several world titles to her name and is looking for sponsorship ahead of the fight. If you would like to sponsor Ellie, please call 07969 696362.
