Garston, like many other parts of the country, was hit by extreme rain which resulted in substantial flooding by the Dome roundabout.
Cars were seen struggling through the huge puddle, with many submerged up to their number plates, on Thursday, September 26.
The flooding came after a yellow weather warning for rain was issued for most of England and Wales.
In response to the flooding, a spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said: “We’ve experienced significant flooding over the last few days, with some areas receiving a month’s worth of rainfall (8-10cm) over just 22 hours. This sort of rainfall is expected to happen only once every 390 years – a very rare occurrence. Our teams worked hard to keep disruption to a minimum and the roads safe.
“Despite our regular cycles of gully and drain cleaning and our planned flood alleviation schemes, when this much rain falls, the drainage systems can become overwhelmed.”
