FESTIVE FUNDRAISER: Abbots Langley Scouts delivering your Christmas cards for donations

Published on: 17th November 2020   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

The 1st Abbots Langley Scout Group are holding a fundraiser to build an indoor climbing wall, which will be dedicated to a beloved scout leader who passed away this year.

The Scout group say it’s been a difficult year for them, as they sadly lost group Scout leader Clive Winder (pictured) to coronavirus early in the pandemic and have been scouting virtually for most of 2020.

In order to raise Christmas spirit as well as funds, the group are introducing the Scout Christmas Post. It’s a fun initiative, and they hope that by sending and receiving Christmas cards in this unique way, it will bring a smile to many faces.

The proceeds will help fund the installation of an indoor climbing wall at the Scout HQ in Langley Road. The Clive Winder Wall will be dedicated to the late Scout leader and will not only benefit members of the Scout Group, but the community as a whole, as it will also be available for hire by other groups.

The post service is available to all residents of Abbots Langley at a price of 30p per card. Delivery is only to the Scout Jumble Sale collection routes, and the most central roads to the village.

These are: Manor House Gardens, Kindersley Way, Little How Croft, Gallows Hill Lane, Abbots Road, Parsonage Close, Dell Meadow, Standfield, High Street, The Crescent, St Lawrence Close, Langley Road, Marlin Square, Kitters Green, Breakespeare Road, Adrian Road, Garden Road, Popes Road, Greenways, Trowley Rise and Tibbs Hill Road.

You can download full instructions and a form to complete from www.abbotslangleyscouts.org.uk/christmaspost

The designated Scout post boxes will be located in Abbots Supermarket, Langley Road and Sheffields, High Street.

Alternatively, post through the letterbox of the group treasurer: 22 Kindersley Way, WD5 0DQ, from Monday, November 30 to Friday, December 11. Cards will be delivered by Tuesday, December 22.

If you do not send Christmas cards but would still like to donate to the project, please download the donation slip from the website and forward it to the Scout’s post as above.
