Last month, a couple used their love of food and hosting to bring together British and Caribbean cultures in a celebration of community, flavour and heritage.
John Sibson, who is English, and Juliette Sibson, who is British Afro-Caribbean, have been married for 46 years and wanted to host an event that honoured their individual heritages while showcasing the very best of both cuisines.
At the Manor House in Abbots Langley on Saturday, September 27, residents, friends and family enjoyed the delicious feast, which was in support of Watford Women’s Centre and Abbots’ Henderson Hub.
Juliette has been a supporter and volunteer for the women’s charity for more than 15 years. She recently moved back to Abbots Langley and connected with the Henderson Hub. It was this passion for community and helping women that propelled her to host the event.
For both John and Juliette, hosting events like this enables them to combine their love for cooking, sharing culture, and hosting with causes close to their hearts.
Curry goat, jerk chicken, pastelon lasagna and roast potatoes were just some of the heart-warming foods provided, followed by a variety of desserts.
