‘FANTASTIC WORK’: £1,000 funding boost for Rickmansworth toy charity

Published on: 25th January 2026   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

The town’s toy borrowing charity has received a £1,000 boost to refresh and renew its collection, giving families a sustainable alternative to buying new toys.
Rickmansworth Toy Library has been providing toys to families in the town for nearly 30 years. It is a more sustainable option that reduces waste and allows children to explore playing with a wide range of toys and soft play equipment they don’t have at home, available to borrow for a small fee.
Now, thanks to a boost from Three Rivers District Council’s sustainability fund, the charity has been able to purchase new toys for the first time in a number of years, including a range of wooden toys and a popular soft play set.
Helen Nolan from Rickmansworth Toy Library said: “We are grateful to Three Rivers District Council for the Sustainability Fund Grant to buy new high-quality toys. This funding will enable us to further our mission to offer affordable, sustainable access to toys in our community and continue reducing waste by keeping toys in circulation longer.”
Councillor Sarah Nelmes, deputy leader of Three Rivers District Council and lead member for general public services, said: “Rickmansworth Toy Library has been bringing joy to children across our district for nearly 30 years. We’re thrilled to support their fantastic work through our Sustainability Fund, helping families have fun while caring for the environment.”
The Rickmansworth Toy Library is open on 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at Mill End Community Centre, Church Lane.
Families are invited to come along and give children the chance to play with a wide selection of toys during the session and/or borrow a toy to take home until the next session.
