Singing their way into the hearts of the community, pupils at Leavesden Green JMI School (LGJS) recently raised over £600 for dementia charity Say it with a Smile during their Christmas carol concerts in December 2025.

A cheque was presented to chief executive officer Hannah on Thursday, January 15, to support the charity’s work with families affected by dementia.

Year 6 pupils visited the Leavesden Charity Hub to hand over the donation, where they were welcomed by the board of trustees and treated to a performance by Electric Umbrella, making the day even more memorable.

Year 6 pupil, George, shared: “Dementia is a horrible disease which affects not only the person who has it but their families too. We want to support this charity so that more people can get the help they need.”

The pupils’ fundraising highlights the positive impact young people can have on their community. Headteacher Victoria Lyon also praised the pupils’ efforts: “We are incredibly proud of our pupils for recognising the importance of supporting this charity.”
